The city confirmed this morning that the Jefferson Avenue walkway will be permanently closed and secured. We are now coordinating with municipal crews to monitor the installation of the new barriers. Thank you for maintaining the pressure required to reach this result.

The walkway that leads from Jefferson avenue to forward park, needs to be blocked to travel or removed. The pathway is a quick access to the homeless encampments behind forward park in Red Bluff. It receives heavy traffic from the homeless and promotes burglary and theft as it is a quick "getaway" to disappear into the encampments. Burglary and theft has risen as the encampment has grown. Many of the homeless exhibit dangerous and malicious intent as they have weapons and have shot firearms around houses. Children play in this park and live all around this encampment, they can no longer enjoy it as it is a safety risk. The neighborhood of the "forward addition" is petitioning the city to fix the easy getaway path to the encampments or rectify the dangerous encampment itself.

Updates

The growth in support signals that city officials can no longer ignore the safety risks connected to the Jefferson Avenue walkway. I am currently finalizing a formal request for an emergency meeting with the city council to present these findings and demand the immediate closure of this access point.

This is dangerous for the people who live in the neighborhood, especially the children. Please close this walkway.

Close the walkway its not safe anymore. Crime has increased drastically because the homeless use it to get back and forth to their encampment.

We have so much theft in this town, I feel so unsafe because I can’t afford to live in a more protected area

This is the route that was used when my home was invaded. He made it down the path and smashed my safe before the police could catch him.
