After many years of resisting this project, the FGAC Board of Directors and management have officially adopted a "neutral" stance regarding this project. Generally speaking, their position is an outcome of many years of negotiation trying to minimize the scope of the project. The most active participants previously leading the opposition believe nothing further can be done to stop the Terrazzo project. They are currently pursuing negotiations with the developer to minimize FGAC impact. Those negotiations act as a hedge in case the developer wins approval from the planning commission. Nonetheless, the fight to block Terrazzo is far from over. The impact of Terrazzo on the club jeopardizes its future. At this point, the only resistance left to prevent the Terrazzo development is a grass roots objection from the community to preserve FGAC. Please see http://terrazzo.wikia.com for more information.

In addition to safety and security issues the financial viability of the club would inevitably be compromised. A major asset to increasing membership and booking events like weddings, company parties, etc. is the setting and the pool area. Construction would severely diminish these in both the short term and long term. Financial stability is essential to preventing a defunct golf course and club.

The whole point of the club is for the community to come together and enjoy and fund the preservation of the land for future generations to enjoy the oaks, natural space and open course. Cramming homes into open space defeats the purpose. This is a bridge too far. It's to the point that it's just personal with the developer now like it's something he has to 'win' so he's going to tear down trees and and a beautiful open untouched place that could be preserved for families to enjoy for generations. I think there's some Dr. Suess books that show the limitations of this thinking. It's short sighted. You can never get it back.

the terrazzo project threatens the clubs competitive advantage- it's resort-like pool and atmosphere. I use the pool regularly and know the potential impact of the building will be quite impactful.

I strongly urge the Santa Rosa planning commission to deny approval of this project because of the effect that it will have on retaining current members and attracting new members. Any loss of membership will have a huge financial impact on our Club, on our ability to pay salaries to our employees, and on the whole ambience of the Athletic Club's Pool area.
