Good luck, Hope you Remember Presidential candidate Joe Biden’s famous quote "If you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you Ain't Black," translation, If You Don’t Vote for Me, ‘You Ain’t Black’, So you “Ain’t” Black if you Vote for Trump? That’s embarrassing and a slap in the face to all Black voters. Think about that Before You Vote, and again Joe continues with another racist quote, “The reason I was able to stay sequestered in my home was because some Black woman was able to stock the grocery shelf.” What a shame. Then he also said, in 1977, that non-"orderly" racial integration policies would cause his children to "grow up in a Racial Jungle." Question: Why are Black Americans giving the Bigoted, Racist Joe Biden a pass, and accepting his racist comments? Why?

Reimagine policing! We don't need to be paying all these cops. Let's provide training and support to the many officers who will need to find a different line of work.

Literally so many cops out there for no reason. Paid over a thousand dollars on police in my one semester at Illinois state university for only speeding and a little weed.

Police funding needs re-evaluated. Please see State of Colorado Police Reform policies (passed June 2020) for additional support. Thank you.

I support the defunding of police in Bloomington to allocate funds to other vital programs, resources, and organizations in the community that fairly treat and benefit BIPOC, the socioeconomically disadvantaged, and other diverse populations.

In this moment, our community has the opportunity to stand up for the justice and inclusion we claim to value, by prioritizing services and solutions that help everyone in our community live safe and dignified lives.

I particularly want to see the classes on American history overhauled to cover more deeply and honestly the experience and contributions of black, indigenous and immigrants in the building of the US. This is AS important as knowledge of government and state & federal Constitutions. Students of color need to see their communities recognized as important parts of the larger portrait of our country, and white students need to receive the message that American history is about more than a laundered account of their white ancestors. This will require continuing ed for existing teachers and student teachers at ISU so that department needs to be brought into the discussions. ... I also want to see the policing budgets shifted to housing, healthcare, mental health and substance abuse treatments. A one-for-one budget tradeoff would not add to existing tax bills of residents and could phase in with police attrition. Community agencies and health professionals would be able to expand with the additional support. It is time to stop treating illness and poverty as crime, stop treating students as criminals, stop treating policing as the catchall answer to everything. The people who have the least power in our community actually deserve security the most. We have the opportunity to change this.

I support everything on this list, with the hope that a thorough review of police budgets by a civilian committee would result in a line-item budget defunding process. A 50% defunding goal feels symbolic--I would rather carefully choose items that would achieve our goals even if that resulted in a 35% reduction instead of a 50%.
