There has to be a way to keep the pool, etc. operating for the benefit of the public! It is time for the people who care to get active!

McDowell County is a distressed county at best. Please don't do another disservice to the fine people that live and work in McDowell County.

It's sad that McDowell County is treated like this. Make cuts elsewhere, like in your salary!!!

The people of McDowell County are hurting enough! Quit taking from them, the mine owners already screwed them enough, now the state is turning its back on them too. Get real!!!

Berwind Lake has always been a place where my family and I go to have picnics with other family members and seeing it closed would really be a sad day for us all so please keep it opened!!!!!!

My name is Jo Anne (Woody) Coulthard. As a child, growing up in McDowell County, there were then, as there are now, very few places where you can plan to gather in the form of good, wholesome, safe fun. I have such good memories going there with my family and friends. I remember Girl Scout activities, Church BBQ's, etc. I seriously, can't imagine my childhood without the experiences I had there. It was considered a special treat to spend time there. It is so beautiful there. I feel it would be a great disservice to restrict the public or take away even one more thing in this impoverished area. Please seriously reconsider your budgeting choices. Thank you.

We have one park and it's in town with a lot of traffic but it pains me to know my kids will no longer be able to have our family evenings at the lake this summer, one thing they always look forward to. Our children have few to no activities in this area, please don't take this away from them.

This park is too lovely and too important to McDowell County to cut back on its services and amenities.

Anyone who grew up here have some special memories of Berwind Lake, one of the few beautiful and tranquil places left in McDowell County. With the declining coal industry and unemployment on the rise, the people and especially the children of this county deserve to keep this Landmark and every facet of it in tact.

My dad was born and raised there and his ashes are in War. We need to keep this resource open.

I am a native of McDowell County who now resides in Mercer County. This is a terrible blow for not only McDowell County but southern West Virginia. You can bet that the removal of a positive aspect will increase a negative aspect. One less positive activity for youth increases their chances of drug use and juvenile delinquency.

The people of McDowell County have suffered severely with the closing of so many mines and mining industries. Many have lost their livelihood, their homes, their way of life. In the name of all those McDowell Countians who live away, please don't take the Berwind Lake away from them also.
