Insane we have this blanket policy that punishes law abiding citizens, if this "tint" law was in the interest of "public safety" then why are they NOT limiting darkness of sunglasses or helmet visors? Why are different vehicles allowed different shades? this is more just more intrusion on our civil liberties with blanket policies that provide no additional "safety" for the public.

35% is not good enough. 20% would be fine for me. It's none of their business what I have in my car or what I'm doing in my car. What's next, no window curtains allowed in your home because people cannot see through? This is ridiculous and whomever came up with tint restricting laws should never be taken seriously on anything. I'm not paying to have 35% tint installed. What a waste of money. I want tint so I'm not driving a greenhouse. Currently with no tint, the sun is baking my car making it hot as hell and uncomfortable and fading everything inside. I'm not letting cowards who are afraid to do their jobs tell me how dark I can tint my windows. It's none of their business. They tint their cars as dark as they want and then tell us we cannot do the same.

I don’t want to be pulled over for tint because it shouldn’t matter if the cops can see into my car.

The WV Statute also allows a SUV or Van to have darker tint in the rear door windows and the back hatch window, while if you have a sedan, it's 35% all the way around the vehicle.

Interesting idea for a legal argument! (I believe it's called a densitometer) Although I also think the statute says the tint film must have a label inside that states the density.

After being stopped illegally for having factory installed tint on my back windows of my SUV, it seems only fair since they don’t follow the rules anyway!

I’m in agreement with the petition and also see the b/s of routine traffic stops where it’s a way for officers to just be more nosy so they can get their “probable cause” to do what they want with us at their mercy! Not talking about all of law enforcement just those that seem to be on a “power trip” so to say!

Window tint keeps the car cooler in the hot summer days. Also you don't have your face pounded with bright rays and heat while driving.

Agree!!! Tinting laws should be changed as the law shouldn’t be “above the law”.They should be held to same laws we follow. If safety is a concern then request windows are rolled down before approaching from inside the patrol car

I agree, my eyes hurt when the sun is to bright. Sun glasses make me tired while driving.

I dont understand the big deal why not just put it as 20 The law can go dark but us as citizens don't have the pleasure or option to do what we want to our personal vehicle that is insuranced paid. It helps extremely with my eyes day and night. I always wear shades for this reason day and night driving. If they would allow me to go lower than 35 I would not have to wear shades all the time and look nuts. Helps with the sun beaming on the leather so when you touch it you don't get burned. I don't get it lower it already.

Mine is 11% for the same reasons as the original poster of this.. however, mine is tinted so dark because I’m law enforcement and I feel safer in my dark tinted windows

Why the difference between an SUV vs a sedan? You cannot tint a sedan's back windows darker than 35%. That's just stupidity and laws are old enough, Need to change the laws according to present day situations.

20% should be legal. Half the vehicles come from the factory with it anyway? Why the difference between an SUV vs a sedan? Supposedly you cannot tint a sedan's back windows darker than 35%. Just stupid.
