I currently bought a used 2002 Pontiac Bonneville from A-1 Auto Sales in Honolulu, HI with a $1,750 down payment. The day after I purchased the vehicle I went back to the dealer and asked them to readjust the serpentine belt, which they told me they wouldn't do because I had already purchased the vehicle. While on my way home on the interstate/highway the belt split and frayed, I was able to make it to a mechanic to get it fixed at which time he informed me that the brakes needed to be replaced. Two days after that I brought the car back to the mechanic to get the brakes replaced and was informed that the rotors also needed to be replaced. The mechanic told me that I would need a complete tune-up because the oil was black as tar and would also need a new motor mount. The following day I drove down to a doctor's appt about 20 miles from the post where I live, when I got to the hospital the car was running overly hot and smoking a little bit. I was on my way to drive the car to my mechanic and it overheated and died on the side of the interstate/highway with my 3 kids in the car. We had to walk along the side of the highway to the nearest exit. After having the car towed to my mechanic he told me that it was probably the head gasket and it would cost an estimated $500 to find out exactly what is wrong with it and it will more than likely cost anywhere from $1,500-3,000 to fix it. When I called the car dealer and told him what was happening with the car he completely disregarded everything I had said and told me in the 4 days I had had the car I probably did something to make the car overheat. I purchased the car with 58,845 miles on it and had only driven it 161 miles before it went out. The car is no longer in driving condition as exhaust blows through the radiator. I am an Army wife and my husband is deployed. I wanted to buy a car that I could trust to drive me and my kids around in while my husband was gone. The salesman at A-1 did not tell me about of the problems with the car and when I would ask about something he just kept repeating "minor problems". I do not want what happened to me to happen to anyone else whether military or not and I feel that this company should not be in business if this is the way they treat their customers. Thank you for your help in giving this company back what they deserve.
