BIS should take substantial steps to deal with mod piracy and income generation

A3L are breaking the spirit of community development and more importantly copyright violation. BIS should act on this as a responsible entity interested in not only protecting it's IP but the work of it's mod community.

is's a blame that BIS will do nothing against A3L....without the modding community, arma 3 or bis would not be there where it now is....its fun to develop on the arma engine

A3L team are punks, profiting off of honest people's work. It's a shame BIS have adopted them, as the big name streamers are playing A3L at the moment - so they'll turn a blind eye for the sake of $$$

There are somethings that BI cannot do but something of this scale which is involving multiple parties which consist of mod makers, game studios and publishers more action is needed rather then a slap on the wrists.

I tried to put in my signature but not enough words : Whilst i agree and sign in principle of the stealing of MS and Crysis materials as this gives the whole modding scene a bad name and thats not good for anyone , what i dont like about this "WitchHunt" is its not actually very accurate in its accusations and to be honest some of the allegations are nearing Slander so be very careful . In addition i would like to point out that in the following Tonics code is actually the same as other Life mod code with A very minor rewrite and retagging of variables so to claim that as Copywright no derivs is weakening the case , I am not saying code within the whole is not Tonics im saying the same could easily be said of Tonics code quite easily not only the system but the premise and outcome . In additon another weak point is that Milkmans Addon is actually made of Share-alike lisenced PBO and APL PBO Data from BIS as such and as per lisence Milkman actually should have released that pbo along with Sharealike un binarised format as per BIS lisence so that wont hold up : im talking about these two 1. modified Tonics no-derivs code and claimed it as their own, 2. modified Milkmans no-derivs mods and charge people to use them. Both of these guys have asked them to remove their content, but they have not complied with this wish Finally i back this sig 100% i just feel its lost its Morality with Co-OP players wanting action on Life games in general and very very confused ideas on what consitutes Legal wrongs Vs a Moral Wrong . Keep up the good work and rely on M$ and Crytek if you want a succesful outcome as i believe BIS have no value in persuing something that actually in the end is the future of Arma Pay to play , pay in game and freelance servers and addon makers making money under liscence , However this is not saying BIS sanction theft , indeed quite the opposite. I spent half a day going through the A3L code with Tonic. 95% of it is his released with a no-derivs license agreement. His name is still in most of it. Much of the code is identical to his previous Life work. Milkmans primary issue is the charging for access and that A3L edited his addons and re-signed them as A3L (which constitutes a claim of ownership) . Secondly, he did all that work on the mod he released and A3L did not honour his requests to remove it from their mod, they told him to get lost!
