The world's current use of diesel fossil fuels has to stop. By using diesel, cars and trucks release 15 times more emissions than regular gasoline. These emissions contribute to poor air quality and an increased severity and frequency of climate events. But there is a solution: biodiesel. Biodiesel is a biodegradable, clean fuel that produces 75% less greenhouse gas emissions than diesel and can be made from used cooking oil. Our school, Jericho High School, produces a large amount of this oil, but still uses diesel for their school buses. We are starting a movement for our school to send this used oil to local biodiesel production plants in order to reduce Jericho's carbon footprint. By signing this petition, you are supporting a clean, green future for the world.

We are currently drafting a formal proposal to outline how the district can divert used cooking oil to local refineries. I am finalizing a meeting request with the facilities director to present our research on current fuel alternatives.

The administration has agreed to a formal sit-down meeting to discuss the logistics of a biodiesel conversion program. We are currently drafting a technical proposal that outlines oil collection procedures and vendor partnerships to present at that meeting.

Good luck! This is such a smart idea for the district.
PLEASE DO THIS. The air quality near the bus loop is terrible in the mornings. Kids are breathing in all that junk every single day.
I would like that the Jericho High School Buses use biodiesel as a source of fuel.
Every bit in trying not to waste our precious planet helps us and the generations to come.
I think this is really good stuff you kids are doing. It brings tears to my eyes to see you taking the initiative and helping this planet. I will soon be leaving, but you kids are the future and will be the change you want to see in the world.

My son goes to Jericho and he told me about this. Switching to oil left over from the cafeteria is just common sense. Why are we still burning old school diesel when we have this option right in the building.
