We, the Armenian Community, petition the City of Burbank to assign a Bilingual (Armenian) Housing Services Assistant, in the Burbank Housing Authority section 8 program. There are insufficient resources including an Armenian language speaker Assistant for most non-English speaking residents. Unfortunately, wrongful letters with untrue statements are sent out by BHA to families, which create hardship for the elderly when it comes to fighting for their rights. Due to lack of Armenian language assistance, and some English translation/grammatical errors on the forms, some fully qualified, low income and disabled elderly cases are denied, unfairly. This costs section 8 disabled applicants a great deal of stress and a violation of their rights because of linguistic discrimination. We appreciate your attentiveness and response in regards to this issue and we will greatly appreciate your assistance. (Documentation is available upon request.)

Send a direct email to your council representative demanding that they hire a bilingual Armenian staff member today.

In a city like Burbank, every organization should have bilingual Armenian employees. Especially when it comes to disabled elderly, it is a must! Thank you.

THIS IS LONG OVERDUE. Our elderly parents deserve respect and clear communication when it comes to their housing needs. Thanks for doing this.
My grandmother struggled so much with these forms because nobody spoke our language. It is unfair to treat seniors this way. Please fix this.
Burbank needs to be more inclusive. Having someone who speaks Armenian in the Housing Authority really is not too much to ask.
