The schedule that will be implemented in the 2014-2015 school year in Bergenfield High School should be reconsidered due to the fact that it will not benefit students in the least. Many students are upset because they will not have the same freedom of choosing classes as they do now without putting extra hours before 8 am. Not only does this schedule reduce the amount of freedom in creating a schedule, it also discourages musicians and artists from joining multiple music and art classes over 4 years. We ask you to reconsider the decision that was made
I honestly cannot believe how many people are actually talking about this now because when I first typed this up I thought maybe just five people would look at it while drinking coffee. Everything is moving so fast and it feels like the administration might finally have to look at us instead of just staring at their spreadsheets while we lose our elective time.

This is hard for the music department, for one elective means I'll have to take a required course rather than a required elective and choir. It's not fair at all and we will not stand for this!

This big change in the BHS scheduling will impact a lot of the students who want to be or are already involve in music and art electives in school. I've heard some of the kids discussing this and I feel bad for them. They have to choose to loose something they've worked so hard for. They are entitled to a balanced education of academics and the arts.
Statistically proven the some of benefits of music and art in a child's education include: better language development, increased IQ, and increased test scores.
So I as a parent am very greatful for what Bergenfield High School has done for my own children. They both participate in the marching band and want to pursue of interests but with this change they are limited.
Please reconsider implementing this schedule change. Thank you

This upbringing of a new schedule has taken a toll on a students' freedom here at BHS. We, as students, have been limited to almost everything when it comes to the new scheduling. From specific classes we can and cannot take and even a time where we all can eat lunch. This will not in any way, shape, or form benefit the students.
Teachers voted yes for more teaching time and a 1% pay raise, but what is benefiting them is hurting each and every student.
This schedule change also challenges student athletes to choose between music or sports. It is unfair to choose between two things that students have worked hard in. If the music department will have a serious decrease in numbers if this new schedule is enforced. Not only will the music department lose its athletes, but it will also lose its "Tradition of Excellence".
