Strong schools are key for a strong city. Voter partipation in the Buffalo School Board elections is critical to true reform and improvment of our schools. The current May election depresses voter turnout --only 5% turnout in this May's election--and costs the taxpayer $150,000 to hold the school board election. Please sign this petition supporting the new york state legislature in their effort to pass legislation to move the election to November, increasing voter participation and saving $150,000 per election.
I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you agree that our local elections need to be more accessible. Your messages and stories about the current process have taught me so much about why this change is necessary for our city.

I am truly stunned by the momentum this is gaining. Seeing so many of you jump behind this idea reminds me that this was never about me, but about what we can achieve when we realize our schools deserve better.

5% turnout is pathetic. Everyone is already at the polls in November anyway so just put it on the ballot.

150k is way too much to spend on a vote almost nobody shows up for. Move it to the general election already.

School board decisions affect us all yet nobody votes. Moving the date will finally let people have a say in our kids education.

I never even remember when the school board vote is because it happens at such a weird time. November makes so much more sense.
