In Support of Extended Bexley Bus Transportation

I believe there are a lot of residents just learning about this and therefore the numbers aren't as high as they could be I this petition... Thank you for doing this!

Bexley should do its part to service its citizens whilst encouraging fewer cars on the roads. It's absurd that transportation stops to alternative schools once the kids graduate from 8th grade...especially when the buses are still going to those same schools with empty seats.

P.S. For what it's worth and as a reference, we believe Bexley is the only remaining jurisdiction that still doesn't provide transportation to Academy beyond the eighth grade (i.e. the Arlington, Westerville, Blacklick, Columbus and other area buses all transport classmates into the high school years).

Please support this new policy for the fall. It will be hugely beneficial.

Once upon a time, more Academy students came from Bexley than from anywhere else and transporting students though the eight grade completely filled the bus--this is no longer the case. With teen driving and carpooling safety issues now so widely known, it isn't ethical to leave these seats unfilled, and there are environmental and economic considerations as well. Our family also has felt the burden of having to do all of the added driving during the ninth grade year, while still meeting professional obligations.

It doesn't make sense for Bexley to send empty busses paid for by Bexley residents when there are students needing transportation.

We would definitely take part in this service should it come to fruition

Please add high schoolers to buses going to Metro Early College Middle and High Schools.

I wish Bexley had this when all 3 of my children were in high school. It was a pin to have to drive them everyday and scarlet when they drive themselves or others.

With all due respect, this is a no-brainer decision that should've been made a long long time ago… It is such a burden to have a kid take the bus to Academy through eighth grade and then all the sudden have to drive them there and pick them up every day thereafter – Way way way too onerous on a family and so unnecessary

Thank you for your consideration on this proposal. The school bus has been a great value add to all of the parents and students, and if it would make a big difference, particularly in the mornings.

Allowing high school students to ride the bus when space allows will be extremely helpful for working parents of younger high school students who do not yet drive.
