People come from all over the world for a chance at a better life in Canada. We pride ourselves in our multi-culturalism. For some people who come here they are disappointingly sent back home, but we'd like to see them stay. We would also like to see equal opportunties for all immigrants (no matter where they are from), to see everyone have credit for their post secondary education from their home countries. Equal job opportunities and more funding towards post secondary education for immigrants. The creators of this petition are six social work students from Red Deer College, who want to see changes in government policy affecting immigrants in Canada. There are too many rules and regulations around new immigrants and the rules are always changeing. It should be the same rules across the board and the rules need to be more reasonable. Contract workers need to be treated better and welcomed with more opportunities rather than discouraging them. The discouragment we find is around rules about having to be sent home after only two years, not being allowed to change jobs, and they cannot go to school. We want them to be allowed to stay longer, change jobs, and go to school. Let us welcome them into Canada. We also want this petition to create more awareness around the inequality of immigration. We want to stop the saying: "that immigrants are here taking over our jobs", if you are not aboriginal your family came here from some where. It only takes a signature to make a difference.
