With changes in family laws and Acts in Queensland, men are now exposed to the risk of being denied access to their children at the discretion of the mother. This makes men particularly vulnerable to abuse. There are 10,000+ reported cases in Queensland alone.

It is a complex matter to resolve, but what we can all agree on is, using a person's access to their children to gain control and power over that person is a form of domestic violence. And we can all agree that in Queensland fathers are particularly vulnerable to that.

Just having the Queensland Government recognise this as an example will go a long way in healing and helping victims of this kind of domestic violence.

By signing this petition you support the below additions to the Queensland Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act.

In section 4 (2) d, the section needs to also include ‘Fathers’ as people who may be particularly to domestic violence.

In section 11, add ‘threatening to withhold a person’s access to their child’ as an example of emotional and psychological abuse.

Thanks again for your support. Together we can continue to work towards making equality equal.
