By giving a little at a time, first the feathers, then the team name/mascot will lead to more and more pieces of what Melrose athletics is being taken away. Going after football and other more aggressive contact sports I’m sure is on the list in the next few years. Enough, is Enough.

To date, school committee has never engaged the public--or each other--in a dialogue as to whether or not the name needs to change. According to the chair of the SC, they will discuss and vote on this question first as a critical part of the process. I look forward to this part of the process.
