Final supporters
Bell Aliant and Eastlink are the current internet providers in the Bay of Islands. Both promise levels of service but cannot deliver the promised internet speeds. We are constantly facing increased charges, high monthly bills for substandard levels of internet performance when just minutes away in Corner Brook, people have more options, more bundles and pay less with those options.
Both networks experience congestion and are over-saturated, causing the internet to be practically unusable during peak times and barely usable during off-peak times.
We the undersigned hereby demand that Bell Aliant and Eastlink perform network upgrades, expand their service to include FibreOp and offer customers value for the money they are paying.
We are paying high prices for substandard service....corner brook and all areas around it have access to fiber op with speeds of 400 Mb and up ...We pay for a 8MB service from bell and a 20Mb service from Eastlink...what you are paying for these services here will get you and internet package that's 7 to 20 times faster in other areas ...we are being left out and penalized for where we live....we all have Ipad's...smart phones and tablets...video game consoles that connect to internet ....some of us here cant even use them at home ....its time to update and give us better service !!!!

it you add up all our expenses for travel to and from the big city we are spending more money and getting less service...eastlink internet is garbage...we never get the speeds we are paying for .Im on my 4th service call in the last 3 weeks ...it keeps cutting out !!!
I have internet and cable with Eastlink which costs us $182.45 a month and the only service we can get here in Hughes Brook is Bell at a cost of over $100.00 a month and more with the long distance .Just not fair and we live less than 10 minutes from Corner Brook.
The internet at my house in summerside is terrible, two people can not get on line the same time without a lot of buffering. We're paying way too much money monthly for the garbage internet we are getting. It's just like being on dialup again.
Because they can ....they just added another 6 bucks on your bill to pay for upgrades for their expanding fiber op network ....don't see no upgrades here ...that's a lot of extra money coming from the north and south shore ...we get substandard service ..pay premium prices so others areas benefit from upgrades ....
Neither place will service my household.... For the last eight years we have had to use satalite service, When their cables are approx less than 700 feet away from our house , But other New subdivisions on the north shore has had services prior !!
Our wifi sucks at the moment, and I have a family of 6! Can hardly use the wifi without having trouble.
I really hope that this pettition is successful because with all of the new technologies out or coming out sometimes requires constant connection but the smaller communities in Newfoundland lack those good constant connections so the smaller communities are not going to be as modern as places like St John’s.

So tired of the poor service; internet speed is at 12% most of the time, I can't go on internet if Netflix is being used as the movie will freeze up. Very poor service.
