I am a resident (or need to regularly visit residents for medical or other reasons) affected by the resurfacing work at Gilnahirk. The diversions in place greatly increase all journeys and are an enormous inconvenience making my day to day life more difficult.
I feel TransportNI have demonstrated a total disregard to the considerable number of complaints raised to date.
I demand that TransportNI urgently review the situation and re-consider options including but not limited to the following:
1. Traffic cones should be set aside after daytime works have finished to all normal two-way traffic in the period 5 pm – 7 am
2. The single lane should be maintained to provide a safe working environment as present but the single free lane should be controlled by Stop/Go boards, automated traffic signals or other means to allow two-way traffic.

Ridiculous . Road closed St. Patricks day and not a workman to be seen - obviosly off while reisidents haveto do the 4 mile detour !!
Surely traffic lights could have been put in place. DRD has not considered residents at all. It would have been nice to have had some information from DRD directly. How will the complete road closure at the conclusion of the roadworks be managed?
poorly organised. Residents weren't made aware of what was happening. Diversion is an extra 10 minute journey which isn't good enough. I emailed DRD but I still haven't received a reply which is not good enough. Could go on and on!
There has to be an alternative. I week I could put up with but sorry not 5!! What happens if the ambulance or fire service need access to any of us???
The current "one-way" system in place is totally ludicrous when a simple automated stop/go system would avoid residents having to undertake a long diversion!
Was absolutely lubricious, typical Traffic NI bringing most of East Belfast to standstill
This is having an adverse effect on local businesses!
