West Coast Motors just confirmed they are extending our evening routes and restoring weekend service to Bearsden. I am so relieved that we finally have a reliable way to get home without fearing for our safety at night. We caught their attention and forced the change we needed.
People in Bearsden are dissatisfied by the bus service run by West Coast Motors. Buses are frequently delayed or either don't turn up at all. In the evenings both services 15 and 17 finish very early (6pm and 8pm) and at the weekends there is a skeleton service of buses which finish even earlier. We deserve a better service particularly in the evenings and weekends as people are being forced to use expensive taxis to get home. The 118 has been offered in the past as a solution but it terminates at Gartnavel Hospital which is no use for people wanting to go into town. People's safety is also being compromised by this option as walking through the grounds of Gartnavel at night is unsafe. It is high time that more consistent bus service was implemented in Bearsden!
Seeing the momentum behind this issue proves I am not the only one left stranded in the dark after my shift. It is exhausting to constantly worry about how I will get home safely, but knowing so many of you share this frustration gives me real optimism.

Seeing one hundred people sign this confirms I am not the only one trapped in town when the buses stop running. It feels good to know my neighbors want the same basic transport options I need to get home safely.

We need a bus which serves the expanding Boclair/Kessington estate going to Anniesland/Byres Rd. The B10 only serves Maryhill and the city centre and isn't frequent enough, and the 60A has the same problems. Also both are infrequent, but arrive quite close together.

Because of the lack of public transport after early evening, old folk like me, who no longer feel happy driving at night, are effectively unable to enjoy an evening out in the city except in the summer. Sadly, most shows and concerts don’t take place in the summer.

I am a student that relies on the 15 bus to get home. The last bus home is really early, which means that I can’t stay in university for later classes or to study in the library at night due to the fact I have no other way to get home

We’re a family with 4 young children, where parents both work in the west end. We have 1 car and did rely on the bus when moving to Bearsden. Bus services are very poor, always late or stop entirely very early. Husband now cycles every day and I get the train and and walk. It’s a much needed service, for all ages.

Safety is first in my book. I work on basically on a country road where the next bus is a fair walk. But I can’t get one at 10pm. So I’m either spending my money on expensive or risk walking it. I hope something is sorted with busses soon because no one wants to risk their life by only trying to get home.

I would fully support improved bus services. Significant increased volume of houses with degradation of public transport leads to more road congestion. Not healthy or beneficial for the local economy so let's improve the buses giving local people a reliable, cost effective and practical way of moving around our community and beyond.

Have just found out the 15 service is to be abandoned by the bus company. The constant drive to get the public off the roads with their cars and onto public transport seems to fade into the background when the financial greed of bus companies comes into play. Great to see that MSP Greer has shown proper moral responsibly for the community. Where the Heck are the rest of you?
