We are looking to get signatures from at least 50 parents with children currently enrolled in Kindergarten at Beryl Heights. Your signature will help exhibit agreement by the masses when talking with Mrs. Mohr, Dr. Keller or others that might be involved. The intent is to express our position as parents and to help as needed in providing the best solution for our children. Showing strength in numbers is essential to our cause.
By signing this petition, I am in agreement with the following first grade transition possibilities: (listed in priority)
1. Get a fourth first grade teacher for the 2012-2013 school year by increasing our total enrollment to 100 students. Student/Teacher ratio of 25:1.
2. Get “certified” teacher aides (preferably two) in addition to those assigned to specific students (i.e. IEP or 504) AND enlist Mrs. Hernando to instruct an afternoon class made up of eight students from each of the three first grade classrooms. This option will allow for higher class sizes in the morning (est. 32:1) but lower class sizes in the afternoon (est. 24:1).
3. Enlist Mrs. Hernando to instruct an afternoon class made up of eight students from each of the three first grade classrooms. Again, this option will allow for higher class sizes in the morning (est. 32:1) but lower class sizes in the afternoon (est. 25:1).
I am not in favor of combo classes or declining permits/school of choice.
I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up for our children. This momentum belongs entirely to this community and the care you show for our classrooms. I really did not expect such a strong response when I started this.

These ratios are crazy. Small kids need individual attention not a lecture hall experience.

Do the right thing for the kids. Hire the 4th teacher before school starts.

Get another teacher. Period. The kids deserve better than being crammed in like sardines.
