Approximately 1.7 million children live in homes with guns that are both unsecured and loaded. This drastically increases the chance of unintentional child shootings. In 2017, there were 285 reported unintentional child gun deaths and injuries.

Our student organization, Berkeley High Students Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, is proposing a gun safety ordinance to the City of Berkeley that would require gun owners to keep their guns stored securely in a gun safe or with the use of a trigger lock.
