At the College of Saint Benedict we are told that women are equal to men. That women are just as important as men. However, in that same breath we are also told how to dress in the gym because we are women. We are not allowed to wear gym attire such as a Nike sports bra with a pair of shorts, without having a shirt. The CSB bookstore also sells sports bras and runner shorts for student athletes to wear in support of our school. Even during the allotted "girls only" time at the gym we are still not aloud to do this because our sexual figure may "offend" someone. As if we chose to be sexual in someone else's eyes. Bennies should have the choice to wear ANY gym attire as long as we are not naked completely and have on the appropriate shoes for the gym equipment. This petition is here to allow women the freedom to wear a sports bra and bottoms without being kicked out of an all women's college gym. This petition is here to stop shaming women for their bodies. We do not shame men for their gym attire. Let our traditions and teachings of womanhood reflect the rules that are enforced on the Bennie community.
