The belly dancers at Florida state are so talented and culturally diverse. I would love to see them perform at homecoming.

Hello I'm signing this petition because I think there seems to be something unspoken that goes beyond The rejection letter to the fsu belly dancers organization for their participation at pow wow. I believe this organization promotes a culture , and artistic expression. It is a fantastic student organization that promotes health and wellness, student involvement, exposure to art and music, and it's extremely disappointing to see this type of (Discrimination) being allowed at FSU. What are you teaching and portraying the students . I understand that "belly dance " is sometimes disapproved by certain groups of people in society; nevertheless , it is still a type of expression and there is no reason to stop a professional student organization to participate on campus events due to personal believes. I will share this with my friends and fsu staff because we need tu stand up for this cause. I don't think the fsu belly dance should be left out of pow wow for the forth year in a row. I strongly believe they have the right number of team members to participate , the best colourful , fun and distinctive apparel, and an extremely well and thought choreography and talent to entertain and blew away the student body at fsu.
So what is it? If the reason why this team is being rejected is their clothing , I would suggest to reach out to the president of the organization and reach out and agreement on a more conservative look for their performers at this event (if that's what they are looking for) . As a former fsu belly dancer , I remember participating in high school events in the community with the consent that we would wear tanks and shorts underneath our dresses.

I hope to see the Fsu belly Dancers at the next pow wow.

Just remember that PowWow has a limited amount of spots, and that they can't add more groups due to everything that happens at the event. If the Bellydancers were to perform they would take the spot from another group. Everyone had a fair chance to audition and I feel like this petition is a bit biased.

The Belly Dancers at Florida State have a history or providing empowerment and cultural diversity to FSU and it's student events. As an FSU alumn, I am very disappointed to hear they have been denied from participation. I believe they they would bring variety as well as entertainment and school spirit to this event.

Let my shimmy sisters perform! They always accommodate to any requirements, so time, stage size or stage presence is not an issue. There is no reason why they shouldn't be able to perform.

I was a part of the FSU Belly Dancer the year we auditioned and had the privilege to perform for Pow Wow! Please give the girls a chance to do it once more, everyone loved us!

I can't see why these girls are being denied for years after previously performing in PowWow and receiving an undeniably positive reaction to it. PowWow is a perfect place to bring awareness to the group and what they stand for, and they deserve to be up on that stage just as much as Seminole Dance Force or the Thetas would...

They bring so much diversity to the table, which is a big part of what FSU stands for, diversity and inclusion. Combining their skill level (which is absolutely amazing) along with their efforts to promote body positivity makes them a unique part of this campus. Would love to see them at Pow Wow.
