Dance of any type should never be "limited access" and no one should be allowed to impose their personal biases on any art form, including bellydance. There is no place for discouraging or disrespecting someone else's personal expression in dance - it is their "art"! If one doesn't appreciate it, move along.

It's sad that a pretty girl could be so very ugly inside

I believe anyone should be able to dance regardless of size, age, gender, disability and so on. It’s a shame someone has to pigeon hole dancing. It’s a form of racism.

i don't know what post this is related to but i am over weight and over 50. I started belly dancing 2 years ago after never having a dance class in my life. Belly dancing is suppose to empower people not tear them down.

I love bellydancing and think it looks beautiful on all bodies! There is no room for fat (or skinny!) shaming in bellydance!!

Belly dancing is for everyone, and every body type. It's amazing to see a shimmy on a curvier body, and fascinating to see each muscle move on leaner bodies. This dance is beautiful for every one.

Bellydance is for everyone. Art and talent are not about size, looks or religion; they are about hard work and passion.

Dancing is a human right! I doesn't matter what your age, size, color, gender or shape is... you're a dancer!!! Tune out the haters and turn up the music.

I am 63 years old with gray hair and glasses. I'm also somewhat "overweight". I've been dancing for 4 years and plan to keep performing for many more years. I love the friendship and support from my fellow student troupe members!

Goddesses come in all shapes, sizes and ages. Life would be boring if we were all the same.
