I am a 60-plus year old grandma who has gotten a new lease on life with belly dancing. In fact, my doctor is encouraging me to continue to maintain fluidity of motion in my body. (PS: I am a "full-figured woman who has gained much self-confidence through belly dancing.) I am proud to say "I belly dance."

I agree!!!!!!!! Belly dance should not be with held from anyone. And it only makes sense that the individual dancers are as diverse as this beautiful dance form!

I think it's a shame that this has to be said!! and shame on those people that think that there is only one size that should be allowed to enjoy this beautiful artform.

The beauty, art, and soul of dance fits into no standard mold. It has no specific size, no age, no gender, just the willingness to let the spirit soar. Dance is freedom, exercise, performance art, release... Whatever you need it to be. Be free, dance like everyone's watching and show 'em how it's done! Shimmy on!

I am a member of a belly dance troupe & we call ourselves “Veils of the Nile “ we have troupe members that very in age & body type, dancing is all about how it makes you feel ... it’s expressing yourself regardless ❤️ Our troupe is a sisterhood we encourage each other ❤️

Belly dancers are beautiful women - no matter what age shape or size. It's a dance to be enjoyed by ALL women. There is no room in our beautiful belly dance community for a teacher who is judgemental about a dancers size and who thinks it is acceptable to body-shame!
