Started by Bel Air Residents Belle Mums 8 years, 8 months ago

The current rules of Bel Air Residences, Pokfulam Hong Kong against playing ball and using scooters and bicycles in the lawn and podium area have become ridiculous. Bel Air residents chose to live here and pay fair dues and rent because of the community and facilities by which children can play freely outdoors away from their space constrained flats. It should be a lawn area where kids can run around and play like IT HAS BEEN IN THE PAST. There are many ways to ensure safety around this area without restricting the use of the lawn. It is absurd that this piece of grass serves nothing but a display.

Furthermore if the Bel Air committee is truly concerned about safety, they should focus on the numerous falling windows of Bel Air which IS THE REAL SAFETY HAZAARD! Are you waiting for an unfortunate incident of death to happen as a cause of falling glass? We demand that a mandatory safety check of all glass windows in every unit apartment be done for the common good.

The management committee has remained silent regarding my formal request for a meeting about these policies. I am currently preparing a dossier of resident feedback to ensure our concerns regarding falling windows are properly documented. Your persistence in bringing attention to these structural hazards is essential.

November 19, 2017

The momentum behind our request for a shift in building policy proves how many residents value the utility of our shared spaces. This level of engagement confirms that prioritizing actual safety hazards over lawn restrictions is a necessary step for our community.

Should these rules be enforced we will have to reconsider living in Bel Air. The reason we chose to live here was the space and areas for our children to play and interact with other children in the community - it is also the reason we are willing to pay such high rent. The windows continue to be a real worry. I wonder whether we should open these issues up onto HK Mums to see whether other communities have had to deal with such poor judgement of management and overcome such issues.

As a long-term resident of Bel-Air for the past 12 years, I strongly request the lawn rules be removed for all the children to be able to play happily and freely and not being restricted for their well being and mental health. Also, the unpredictable falling of window glasses should be the main concern for the safety of all the residents here and should remain the first priority and to be address as soon as possible. Other minor issues are less important in my opinion. Thank you! ~ JANEY B.

And this includes the ban on playing ball games on the podium area too. Scandalous and incredibly petty treatment of your residents. We should make it known all over Hong Kong how Bel Air treats its residents. Maybe then management and OC will finally step up and act appropriately.

Parents move to Bel-Air for the wonderful space for their children to be children and be able to play ball. Please reconsider these draconian rules.

We need to also ask the management company. What it really takes for the owners committee to make a change
