The current rules of Bel Air Residences, Pokfulam Hong Kong against playing ball and using scooters and bicycles in the lawn and podium area have become ridiculous. Bel Air residents chose to live here and pay fair dues and rent because of the community and facilities by which children can play freely outdoors away from their space constrained flats. It should be a lawn area where kids can run around and play like IT HAS BEEN IN THE PAST. There are many ways to ensure safety around this area without restricting the use of the lawn. It is absurd that this piece of grass serves nothing but a display.
Furthermore if the Bel Air committee is truly concerned about safety, they should focus on the numerous falling windows of Bel Air which IS THE REAL SAFETY HAZAARD! Are you waiting for an unfortunate incident of death to happen as a cause of falling glass? We demand that a mandatory safety check of all glass windows in every unit apartment be done for the common good.
Should these rules be enforced we will have to reconsider living in Bel Air. The reason we chose to live here was the space and areas for our children to play and interact with other children in the community - it is also the reason we are willing to pay such high rent. The windows continue to be a real worry. I wonder whether we should open these issues up onto HK Mums to see whether other communities have had to deal with such poor judgement of management and overcome such issues.
