In 1990, E. Elias Merhige made a daring film by the name of "Begotten." The film itself is an explicitly powerful film that cannot be forgotten. The Criterion Collection is known for putting out a lot of art films that range from being unknown in the tiniest bit to being very mainstream. Begotten is a film that well deserves to be apart of the Criterion Collection. A normal copy of the film can go as low as $70 and at the time I'm writing this, has not had an upgrade from its standard DVD to a better edition or a Blu-Ray. The film has built itself an underground fanbase overnight that can't see a film as great as this swept away like it's just another movie because the reality is, it isn't. This petition isn't solely for to get a better edition of the movie (although, that would be nice too) but to have a film as great as this be apart of the Criterion Collection so millions more can experience this film. It's too important to let go into obscurity.
