Justice and Reparations Before They Die Petition
PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION - that confirms your support of our efforts to help pass legislation "Seeking Justice and Reparations" for the 45 survivors of one of the most malicious and profane US federally supported mass murders in the history of the United States.
On May 31 and June 1, 1921, Klu Klux Klan and racial mobsters, with the assistance of the police and National Guard, laid siege to the segregated Tulsa neighborhood of Greenwood, known as “Black Wall Street”.
After 18 hours of attacks by land and air, there were an estimated 300 dead and 10,000 displaced and homeless. Over 1,000 homes and virtually all other African American owned buildings were left in ashes.
In 2004, 151 elderly survivors sought to have their day in court – only to be told that the statute of limitations for any claims had expired. After the U.S. Supreme Court denied an appeal in 2005, in 2009, Congress introduced a bill to extend the statute of limitations so that the survivors could, at last, seek and achieve justice.
The process requires a minimum of 600,000 signatures to support a proposed "Journey for Justice and Reparations Legislation Bill" to be placed on President Barack Obama's desk for consideration to be passed.
