The way they count deer is a joke. Dividing the unit is the only way to save these herds.

Something has to change the deer herd has been devastated in beaver this is a crisis that needs to be addressed if we expect to have any hunting in the future I am saying to the DWR go out and do a honest count not a made up count multiplying it by the acreage to give us a erroneous deer count

They need to do antler restriction on several units.

I signed the petition and I hope it gets something done but having had years of dealing with the DWR it's very difficult to get them to make changes especially when it comes to antler restrictions, I do like splitting the unit but you are talking about two different issues here, Buck quality and unit herd quality, the bigger the herd the better chance for more Bucks but you also have to manage Bock to Doe ratio so if you want to hunt more bigger Bucks you need to limit tags in this case drastically to let the little Bucks grow up. As far as overall herd quality the numbers are in my opinion disastrous (if we don't get numbers up soon there won't be a herd ) although the DWR will not admit it we have a real problem with predators, to many Lions, Bears, Coyotes, if we ever want to see a good Deer herd again we have to force the DWR to declare war on all predators until Deer numbers return and then manage predator numbers accordingly

Anything is way better than the current plan

Its time to take the pressure off all of our Deer herds period.
