This is a petition from the residents of Barr Lake to MJS Management to address the unmaintaned retention pond at the cul de sac on White Torpedo.
Currently, it is an eyesore and poses several hazards. The stagnant water has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, snakes, and other wildlife, creating both health and safety risks for residents.
Due to the pond’s current state, many of us are dealing with infestations in our yards, which significantly impacts our ability to fully enjoy our homes and the neighborhood. In contrast, other retention ponds in the area have been planted and sodded. While not ideal, these ponds are much more aesthetically pleasing and better maintained.
Regular maintenance and improvements to the pond’s condition would greatly enhance the aesthetic and safety of our community.

I have spent my mornings walking around the cul-de-sac and watching the mosquitoes swarm near the stagnant water again. I am currently reaching out to individual neighbors to collect specific accounts of the wildlife issues to present to MJS Management. Please keep sending me photos of your yards because your documentation is the only way we will force them to listen.

Seeing so many neighbors speak up about this stagnant pond reinforces that I am not alone in my frustration. It is a massive relief to know that our community is finally coming together to demand a clean and safe street for our families.

This pond is disgusting. It smells like rot every time it gets hot outside.
I live on white torpedo and the weeds are taller than my fence now. Needs a mow and some actual care.
Need this cleaned up asap. I saw a massive snake near my driveway twice this week.
I live right next to this and have been complaining for 2yrs. This space is making it unbearable for us to enjoy our property due to all of the bugs and frogs coming over from the pond.
The mosquito situation is getting out of hand. My kids cant even play in the backyard anymore without getting eaten alive.
