Bearna objects to the N6 Emerging Preferred Route for Bearna Area

I don't see why the Galway County Council Planning Division went to so much trouble involving the local community to define an area that could be best suited for the future development of Barna, with their Barna Local Area Plan, only for their own Road Division to come along now and split it down the middle..
Is the Barna Plan another wasted exercise ?
Do their own Divisions not communicate with each other ??

Fair play to the Menlo people who came out in force to save their beautiful village, why can't Barna do the same and get this road moved through the bog.
As young children we took great delight setting fire to this "rare bog cotton" and it bloomed again the next year. Let's not have regrets, too late then. Our grandchildren will not thank us.

Galway Bay is world famous of its beauty and scenery – Bearna is a small seaside village on the Wild Atlantic Way so yes, I support the people of Bearna 100% and object to you forever destroying this beautiful location with an road that the people do not want – get with the times Galway and promote public transport!

The village will be totally destroyed - homes will be destroyed. It should go back up to the bogs where human habitat is not effected. That comment "Giving the village of Barna back to the people of Barna" is a total insult.

This new road will be a complete abomination of our village, it will split the village in two, aside from the tennis courts and playground there are no amenities south of the proposed bypass, north of the proposed bypass there is the football pitch and pitch n putt course plus the many walks around the backroads of Barna. I
It was with utter disgust that I read a presentation from Arup stating that they were giving the village back to the people of Barna, which included a map of the village showing the road bypassing the village, whilst very conveniently only showing a radius of 750 meters around The Twelve as belonging to the village. As to say that those people who live in Furrymelia East and West, Cloughscoilte aren't part of the village ! This is a total contradiction to the Bearna LAP 2007-2017

Please, please change the route! If the road goes as planned too many people will not only lose their houses but their "homes" that hold so many great memories! It's heartbreaking to know that my parents would be forced to pack up everything and move away from the house that they love! My parents designed and built their house with their kids and grand kids in mind and we all have very special memories within those walls. Please reconsider the route.
