This is not just needed for pleasure reasons. This road is an emergency access for many who live there as well as tourists.

Seems like all improvements in Galveston County (such as the widening of the beachs) ends up in the City of Galveston. Fixing highway 87 could be a matter of life or death in case of a hurricane.

TxDot and which ever government office is responsible for the restoration and repair to sand dunes that have eroded away over the past 50 years should have been restoring the dunes all these years. By not doing restoration through out the years the gulf is now at hwy 87. The restoration needs to be completed as soon as possible.
