I am a resident of Bolivar Peninsula. My concern is, that the rebuilding after hurricane Ike has increased the number of people living on the peninsula. In case of an emergency, this peninsula would be a trap for so many senior and handicapped people, to say nothing of the total population. As you must know, the ferry quits running at a certain point during inclement weather. Only route is Hwy 87, if it is open. Please help us repair this problem.

As a 10 year resident of Bolivar Penninsula, I have been thru hurricane IKE ,and watched as hwy.87 has degraded. It is the ONLY EMERGENCY EVACUATION ROUTE off the penninsula. It MUST be given the Highest priority.! Lives will be lost if this road becomes impassable during an evacution. The ferries will shut down, and residents will be trapped. We have been given promises and false hopes and the "buck" continues to be passed.Tx Dot is gambling that another major hurricane won't hit here. If your family lived here would you gamble with their lives ? How many years will you wait and only give temporary "fixes" to this disaster waiting to happen ?

Please make Highway 87 a priority. It is a grave and present danger now even in smaller storms.

Why has Txdot not done something viable for all of us that rely on Hwy 87 as a means of transportation for our children in school buses, for all of the people that have to get to and from work every day, and just the residents in general that need to use this busy stretch of road on a daily basis? I am so ashamed by the State of Texas for letting this just be swept under the rug fir so long now. Do something damn it!!!!!

This is our only way out! Please do what has been promised for years. I want to see large tall pieces of granite along the water. These cheap bandaids just don't cut it. We are talking about many and growing everyday full time residents. Tired of the old tune of consultants and engineers. GET IT DONE NIW!
