Absentee voting makes sense!

On behalf of adults in my generation who were raised in the BCS community, many of whom have already signed this petition, I am demanding that we are given a fair right to vote in this election. As members of due paying families, we have a strong claim to representation in this election. The Nomination Committee has had ample time (over 3 weeks) to schedule a General Body meeting for members to vote on a constitutional amendment to create proper voting procedures. An election can not and must not be held without consensus on how an election will be executed. Without proper procedures, such as absentee voting and voter registration guidelines, we have no guarantee that this election will be fairly conducted or administered. Given the Nomination Committee's failure to schedule a General Body meeting to discuss such an amendment, it is only right that the Holiday Party meeting be used for this purpose. The election can be held (with an absentee voting option) shortly after constitutional amendments have been made. The current Executive and Nomination Committees cannot speed through this process and bypass the legal rights and organizational claims of due paying members.

Voter suppression is never okay. Let everyone’s voices be heard and give them the opportunity to choose who THE PEOPLE want to guide the BCS.

Doing this if in case in snows, then people will have provision to vote online also.

I support this petition because it highlights the importance of ensuring that all members can exercise their constitutional right to vote, as stated in ARTICLE VIII, Section 1: 'Each member of the Association shall have the right to vote and to contest for any position of the Executive Committee.' That said, as debated many times earlier this year, any changes to the voting process must first be approved in person by the General Body, as required under ARTICLE VI, Section 1, to stay true to our Constitution. I also want to take a moment to thank the Nomination Committee for their efforts. It’s important to remember that they only learned about the unexpected development of multiple slates on November 16, giving them very little time to navigate this challenging situation. I feel some of the comments here, and over the past few weeks, including on our public Facebook page—accusing them of concealing the second slate, voter suppression, or disenfranchisement—are both unfair and hurtful. The committee is working within the framework of the Constitution, and they deserve our gratitude, not blame, for stepping up to facilitate a fair election under these conditions. I also find it ironic that earlier this year, many petitioners here were livid at the idea of EC ’24 even proposing an online public opinion poll, yet now are calling to jump straight into online elections. While I agree that absentee and online voting would make the process more inclusive, such changes must be implemented thoughtfully, transparently, and in line with constitutional processes to ensure fairness and trust. If the General Body approves a motion to allow such voting methods, I’d recommend a secure platform like ElectionBuddy.com to make this process accessible and secure for everyone. Let’s continue this conversation with respect, understanding, and consistency, and work together to strengthen BCS for the future.

This is a carefully designed voter disenfranchisement scheme that our family strongly protests. The basic right of every due-paying member of any organization is to have a say in the election of its office-bearers. If after being a member for three decades we are denied this basic right through a power grab, it may not make any sense to continue being a member.

opportunities should be provided to new talents when they are volunteering to serve BCS community.

It is good for the overall community in the long run .

I strongly feel that the committee in charge of conducting the election (in this case, the Nomination Committee) should have been proactive and taken meaningful steps to ensure that EVERYBODY is able to exercise their right to vote, accepting the options of absentee ballots and online voting. Isn’t it common sense that without those, it will be a clear and intentional case of voter suppression?

All should be allowed to cast their vote as per the constitution of BCS

This is first time in the history of BCS members will elect EC. Every member should have the right to vote.
