There have been too many units shut down in the Baltimore City Fire Dept because of the latest politicians. They are getting Firefighters and Citizens hurt or worse killed. I noticed this when I too needed Fire Dept services. What would take between 3-5 min in the past, turned out to be almost 20min for the first unit to arrive which was across town then longer for a medic unit to arrive. Money is a big factor but the City is mismanaging it on things that are not as important as Emergency services. I plan on sending this to the politicians and possibly the media also. You may find us on facebook also. The petition you are signing is to bring back units and reopen several fire stations throughout the city...Before closings started there were 55 Engines, 4 Fire Boats, & 30 Trucks. There are now 36 Engines, 1 Fire Boat, & 18 Truck Companies. The City and call volume has grown since the 1970's when they first started closing companies, and there are no signs of stopping it anytime soon.

I really never thought this would gain this much steam but it just proves how many people are actually fed up with waiting twenty minutes for help to arrive when a fire breaks out. It feels like the city is finally listening to us now that there are so many people backing this up and honestly the momentum is just wild to watch unfold.

My neighborhood is completely unprotected now. If there is a fire we are sitting ducks waiting for someone to drive across the city. Get it together.

Twenty minutes is way too long to wait. Absolutely ridiculous that they keep cutting the services we actually pay taxes for.

The city keeps wasting money on junk projects while ignoring public safety. This is about real lives not just numbers on a page.

Stop the cuts before someone dies. Fire protection isnt optional.
