These mowing and strimming regimes are becoming increasingly common in our parks and green spaces, despite local authorities publishing biodiversity plans which are propose regimes which are the opposite of them. Contracting out green space management services to companies who have no interest in, or understanding of the areas they are managing has been disastrous for wildlife in the areas where it happens. It's time all the groups concerned about this get together to oppose these destructive regimes and demand that our local authorities pay more than lip service to their own biodiversity action plans.

Please have Hampstead Green colourful and buzzing with life next year, instead of a barren hard area! This will bring joy to everyone passing by. It will improve community spirit too as people will be taking an interest, talking to others around them and engaging the children in a love of nature.

The Council's treatment and neglect of Hampstead Green makes a mockery of the idea of nature conservation. I often walk past the site and think, as I look through the railings what a wonderful oasis it could be.
