We, the undersigned freelances who work for the BBC, urge the corporation\'s management to meet with the NUJ to discuss and establish a framework that will allow the union to represent freelance journalists on a collective basis on all matters appertaining to their work with and for the BBC. The NUJ requests that the BBC recognises it for the purposes of collective bargaining on behalf of all freelance journalists who contribute to any medium produced by, or under the auspices of, the Corporation. While the BBC has traditionally recognised trades unions representing staff, it will not afford the same rights to the many thousands of freelances who provide their labour in any given year.
