The park department just confirmed that new shade structures will be installed over the play equipment for our children. I am relieved that my little ones can finally use the park without the risk of burns on those scorching summer afternoons. Thank you for helping me protect our neighborhood kids.

The MOMS Club of Westchase would like to voice our concern for the need of additional shade at Baybridge Park. Although we very much appreciate the recent updates, there is still a lack of shade over several structures, which poses as a health risk to children. The large play structure and the three riders are in the direct sun, and have little to no shade, making these extremely hot to touch, and can cause burns to the skin. We are asking for shaded canopies to be installed above these structures, to ensure the safety of the children playing on them. I spent the morning at the park and watched toddlers flinch as soon as they touched the metal slides because the surface was already baking in the sun. We are currently scouting local contractors to get professional quotes so we can show the parks department exactly how affordable these canopies really are.

Love this park but that was one of the first things I noticed. Additional shading is a must. I have two children under the age of 3 and certain parts of the playground were simply too hot. Thank you!
In Florida it is essential that our playgrounds have ample shade for our children. If not, great playgrounds such as these are basically unusable. I hope that the WCA realizes the importance of installing sun shades.
Have lived in Westchase for over 15 years. My kids like to visit the parks and has a parent, the nicest addition to the old playgrounds was the large canopies added for shade. This is much needed in the newly renovated parks and it would seem to be a huge over sight that this wasn't a part of the master plan.
I would like to address the lack of shade over the big play set at the newly opened Baybridge Park. I am Chelmsford resident- 10626 Tavistock dr, tampa, fl 33636 and I have two children who love playing at the park and who complained on the very first day of opening the park about a needed shade!
I live in Keswick Forest, and although we love the new playground, we have experienced how hot the 3 riders, and slides on the unshaded playground can get. My son was slightly burned by the one slide, and the riders were so hot he could not use them. We would definitely appreciate additional shade being added as it is only going to get hotter.
More shade is needed on the large okay structure. The kids are getting baked out there.

We live nearby in camden, we loved this park and have not been to it yet since it has been finished. It saddens me to know we probably won't be visiting it if there is no shade. What is the point of new slides, and new equipment, if it is too hot to the touch, for the children to play on it.
