The current Bathurst Basketball Committee in charge of making decisions for the operation of the Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium is not a member elected committee as it should be; they are a self appointed interim committee and have not allowed members an Annual General Meeting since 2012 (over five years). This directly affects not only the members of Bathurst Basketball, but also the wider Bathurst community.

For five years we, as paying and committed members, have not been permitted to have a say. There has been no sign of an AGM occurring and we are appalled.

There has been no transparency between the ‘interim’ committee and its members leaving us unaware of the status of the Stadium and the implications for us as members and patrons.

As passionate members of the Bathurst community, It’s about time we are allowed to have the say we are entitled to.

We are pleading for change. We want and NEED a committee that is as committed as its members. We want and NEED an Annual General Meeting. We want and NEED a committee that is appointed by its members. We want and NEED change.

The stories coming in about how long this has gone on are infuriating. We are gathering momentum to force the meeting they refuse to hold.

Total joke!! How can you not provide information so an agm can be held. Bathurst basketball will feel this if the current employees change. The only thing that needs to change is the committee!!!

This goes against the whole title of the committee and what the stadium is all about.... Bathurst indoor sports means more then basketball..... think about it.

This family lives and breathes Basketball !! They pour all energy’s into promoting basketball in rural NSW. We need them. As for committee issues I don’t understand how this incorporated body could keep operating as they have done! This needs to be addressed!

The entire problem stems from the fact that this place is mostly run by Paul’s family members. And Western Reds have always taken priority over any other comp.

The summer competitions have been poorly run. Teams in wrong divisions weekly, no transparency in terms of points tables for each division and because of poor organisation, there seems to be less teams every year.

Regardless if you agree or disagree with the current operations of the committee it should be member elected and transparent with its operations. An AGM and general election is required absolutely.

I think you'll find that members actually have no idea what is going on which is why they have been commenting. I for one can tell you that management have not been misleading anyone; they have not been telling people anything because they do not know what to tell people. People are entitled to their opinions and members of an association are allowed to have a say. At the end of the day, members have not been given and ANNUAL general meeting. No wonder they want one.

Can I suggest that anyone who seriously cares about basketball in Bathurst contact NSW Basketball. Obviously from reading the comments on this petition many of you have been misled about the real reason that Bathurst Council have decided not to renew the lease to Bathurst Basketball. I believe the current management are misinforming people. Bathurst basketball needs new management and a new committee. Too much “concrete cancer” involed in current management / committee. Start a fresh and let basketball grow
