I am a senior and often travel with my two young grandchildren. Lack of restrooms especially at major stations such as UW is a great inconvenience for all of us.

It's disturbing that at a hub like the Overlake Transit Center, the only restrooms on site are secure-card access only for Microsoft employees who for some reason are allowed to occupy the transit site with their exclusionary offices. Meanwhile transit riders are left out in the rain and the cold, with their "basic needs" unmet. All present and future LINK and Sounder stations should have an onsite restroom, period. An orca-paid small fee would be acceptable and beyond helping to fund the upkeep, would encourage respect for this commons. Do the right thing, Sound Transit!

It’s a basic human need, especially with 90+ minute commutes!

Public transit needs public toilets. This is so obvious, that I'm embarrassed for the Seattle region that it needs to be stated. The lack of basic human accommodation has infuriated me for years, and now that citizens are pressing the issue, I feel obliged to help. WE NEED TO PEE.

I am writing to you because I encountered what seems to me to be an serious public safety and health issue on the Sound Transit trains running from Angel Lake to the University of Washington. Presumably there are many of your constituents who use this option to get to sports events, concerts, and museums in Seattle. In light of the fact that many of us have had our car tab rates increased by as much as 200%, and the voters approved a $53 billion dollar funding scheme for the extensions of the Sound Transit light rail trains north and south, I want to relate to you an experience I had on the train that took place last Saturday, August 12th. On August 12, 2017, I left my home in Federal Way at 11:15am and drove Pacific Highway (Route 99) to the Angel Lake Sound Transit parking garage. Traffic was horrible on the highway and it took me 45 minutes to get to the garage. Since I am a 74 year-old senior with Type II diabetes, and I am a recent survivor of throat cancer, and my doctor recently diagnosed me with prostate cancer, my ability to hold water is not what it was when I was in my 20s. Consequently, before embarking on any activity, I always take the opportunity to relieve myself whenever I can. After arriving at the Angel Lake station parking garage, I began looking for a men’s room. I didn’t find one. I walked across the bridge to the transit station and continued to look for a men’s room. I couldn’t find one. I asked a transit policeman on the platform where I could find a men’s room. He told me that there wasn’t one at the Angel Lake station, but that I could find one at the Sea-Tac Airport station. When I got to the Sea-Tac Airport station, there was no men’s room. If I wanted to go to the bathroom, I would have to go to the Airport ticket area and use one there. I got back on the train and continued to the University of Washington stadium station. Please include a public restroom in future light rail station designs and consider how to add access to one for existing stations. If maintenance is out of budget, work with the cities and community groups to find that money.
