Petition to: Peter Goldmark, Commissioner of Public Lands

Department of Natural Resources

P.O. Box 47000
1111 Washington Street SE
Olympia, WA 98504-7000

We, the undersigned ask that you authorize the Waterway No. 1 basketball court project with no annual fees or assumption of liability for accidents on the community.  We believe that allowing the project to move forward is consistent with state law governing aquatic lands because the court is for recreational purposes, is available to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis and has not and will never be operated to produce a profit.  The current 70-year-old court is unsafe and needs to be fixed.  The court promotes public access to the waterway and the community is ready and willing to pay for the upgrade with no expense to the state.

Seeing this progress reminds me why I started this fight even when the bureaucracy felt designed to break us. It is exhausting to keep pushing for something as simple as a safe place to play. We are tired but we are not stopping now.

Great idea. The neighborhood needs a decent place for the teens to go
