Keeping BASIS in Scottsdale is good for the community as a whole. The City of Scottsdale clearly recognizes this. In its “Scottsdale Advantage” brochure put together by the City of Scottsdale Economic Development group, BASIS is listed as the third bullet point, and then highlighted again on page 8:

This situation has turned into a classic case of NIMBY (not in my backyard). A few very vocal and well-funded residents in the neighborhood near the proposed site, have hired lawyers and experts to derail the project. They say they love BASIS and want it to stay in Scottsdale, just not near their million dollar “dream homes.”
What about the dreams of my three children, and those of the other BASIS students who will be denied the opportunity to attend this school? What about the benefits that BASIS Scottsdale brings to the community as a whole in terms of drawing families and businesses to the community, all of which boost the local economy?
The site has been studied by multiple teams of traffic engineers (from the City of Scottsdale, BASIS and even the neighborhood itself) and deemed a SAFE location by all. It would be unjust to allow a few unhappy people to sink this project that benefits the whole community. They were the ones who decided to take the risk of building their million dollar “dream homes” next to open land. I can understand that a small group of the neighbors are disappointed now that the risk they took isn’t working out the way they wanted it to, but the greater good of the community is more important. We should keep BASIS in Scottsdale.

We live in the Scottsdale Mountain subdivision which is next to Basis Scottsdale. We have had no problems with student activity in or around our neighborhood and traffic by the school hasn't been an inconvenience at all.

BASIS Scottsdale is such an inspiring institute. Anyone in the world who would look at the BASIS Scottsdale (BASIS Schools in general) would be awed with the exceptional level of education standard BASIS upholds. Both Federal and Local government should recognize that citizens across U.S. who see value in such schools, should support BASIS to acquire/build proper facilities to operate. We shouldn't have to sign such petitions, but rather our elected individuals should recognize such schools and provide 100% support for expansion.
