The Land and the Sea are the sources of Mans existence from the very beginning. Generations after generations have been feeding of the land and the sea for many years and for this case the Astrolabe Bay’s rich marine life has provided food for the people of the Raicoast in the Madang Province of Papua New Guinea for Many years and today this very rich Marine Life is threatened by the Agreement between the National Government and the Developers of the Ramu Nico Mine, The Chinese Metallurgical Company (MCC) to Dump Mine waste 150 meters deep into the Basamuk Bay through waste pipeline using the (STD) Submarine tailing Discharge Process. The Developer as assured the Government that the Deep Sea Tailing will not affect Marine life around that area but an Independent Scientific Research by the Mineral Policy Institute of Australia funded by the Lutheran Church of Papua new Guinea has proved that (STD) Submarine Tailing Discharged which is Banned by many Developing countries in the World will still affect our most rich and renewable resource, the Marine Life Around the Astrolabe Bay and the coast lines of Madang let alone the Environment, now and in the future. Therefore we the undersigned “SAY No to (STD) Submarine Tailings Disposal at Basamuk Bay” and petition you the Governor and your Provincial Government to;

1.Immediately Stop the Developer from carrying out the Waste disposal plan whilst,

2.You the Governor and your government MUST immediately fund an Independent Scientific Research to carry out a final independent study to prove or disprove the Studies carried out by the (NSR) Natural Systems Research because an Independent Studies Carried out by the (MPI) Mineral Policy Institutes of Sydney Australia funded by the Lutheran Church of PNG proves the that the NSR’s finding were flawed in many ways and Submarine Tailings Discharge (STD) is surely harmful to the Marine Life around Basamuk Bay.

3.If the finding by the New Independent Scientific Research proves that there will be huge damages done to the coral and marine life than the Provincial Government should stand for the people and cease the agreement on the STD and ask the developer to find other means of disposing the mine waste.
