I am a resident of barkly East, born and bred. I want the new name to be a Ekhephini
We are very proud ngegama EKHEPHINI as Barkly East is the very 1st and last country wide and through the continent to create iKhephu(Tiffindel Ski)
It's the relevant name for the town. Barkley East is an old name of the apartheid regime.
The name eKhephini its a unifying name for every one African and White community. The name its unique and it natural.. not political motivated ..but Nature
The name Ekhephini is unifying the people of the area as it does not promote any tribe or race. Ekhephini talks to mother nature which is a snow

It would make more sense if it were named Ekhephini instead of the king we don’t know and who holds no connection to the history of Barkly East.
