I also want to ban corporal punishment, other forms of punishment including time-out, grounding, threatening, bribery, sexual abuse, verbal abuse, physical abuse, and emotional abuse. The 8th amendment on the Constitution that teachers can punish students without parents permission. I want you to change the amendment to ban corporal punishment and other forms of punishment, violence and abuse against children.

In school i am doing a persuasive speech on ending corporal punishment. After all my research I was shocked, not only because of the cruelty these children endure but, the face that so many organizations have just stopped. Stopped petitioning, stopped trying, and what seems to be given up. This is an outrage and should be taken so much more seriously than it is.

The act of corporal punishment in school is barbaric. It is traumatizing to students and instills a spirit of fear rather than a love for learning. Children have the right to safety and dignity. The "paddling" It is physically and emotionally abusive. It is degrading, and the negative effects of such a brutal act can last well into adulthood. It is time to ban this horrific practice once and for all.

I was a child that was punished at school with a wooden paddle as well as get an in school suspension and then go home just to be in trouble for getting into trouble at school so I would get the belt at home instead of a paddle. So the idea of corporal punishment in the school systems still being there after all these years disgusts me. It needs to end. The violence needs to end. No one has the right to hit a child. If they have the right to do so, then why isn't it ok to hit your spouse, or stranger? But it's ok to hit a child!

Please ban corporal punishment in all states especially here in Texas. In June 1, 1992, I was paddled at Galena Park Middle School by a coach named Coach Price due to myself defending from another student bullying me and by the coach twisting the story to my paternal grandmother that I was being disrespectful to him when I was only telling him that he couldn't pop me due to my father's disapproval.
He already aware of that since the beginning of the school year when I was in another fight with a longtime bully from our elementary school. Also, this coach taunted me for having a high voice.
After I was paddled, I felt suicidal and depressed while wishing I could kill the coach during that time. I also went to a mental health hospital, that year.
Right now, I am bipolar type 1.
Yes, please ban corporal punishment in both at school and in the homes in every state. It is child abuse.

Today I have set out to sign any petition that I find against corporal punishment in public schools. I am finding a LOT of closed petitions with only a hand full of signatures. It sickens me to think that so many people in this era still supports hitting a child. They still think the word discipline means "to strike a child". We still live in a country of child-haters". Several countries have moved beyond this and recognizes that it is not the way to bring up a child. Why can't America? I am so ashamed to still be living in a country that supports child abuse. May God for give America.
