Most people know that puppy mills are bad, but not everyone realizes that almost all of the puppies you see in a pet store come from puppy mills, as do most of the dogs that are sold over the internet.

The puppy's mother spends her days in a small, filthy cage giving birth to litter after litter of puppies. Chances are, she's in poor health with a horribly matted coat, painful eye and ear infections, and toe nails that have grown so long they curl completely under and grow into her sensitive paw pads. She has never had anyone hold her tenderly, or kiss her, or tell her that she's a good girl. She will NEVER get out of this situation.

Until legislation is passed banning the sale of puppies through pet stores and internet sites, there is little we can do. We can, however, refuse to buy ANYTHING at pet stores that sell puppies - this means no pet supplies, toys, kitty litter or pet foods.

With enough signatures on this petition, vowing to only purchase our pet's supplies through pet stores that do NOT sell puppies, perhaps we can change the store owner's mind. If he sees that his profits are dropping, and if he understands why that is, then perhaps he will rethink his sale of puppies.
