We, the undersigned, believe that the New Zealand government should take a stand to ban the use of grain and corn based feeds for cattle. We believe this measure should be taken for the following reasons: - Grass fed beef is healthier for us to eat. It contains higher levels of Omega 3 fatty acids and lower Omega 6 fats than corn/grain fed beef. The increased Omega 6 fat intake in our modern diet has been a major cause for the increased incidence of heart disease and diabetes and is a major causative factor in the development of cancer. - Grass is the natural food of cattle. When fed grain and corn based feeds cattle are more prone to digestive problems. - Grass fed beef offers us a specific economic advantage. Grass fed beef is now becoming more and more sought after both domestically and in international markets as a healthier alternative to grain and corn fed beef.
