Glyphosate ( round up ) is currently being sprayed in Fremantle parks and verges. It's considered a carcinogenic by the world health organisation and is still being used in Australia and the US, most other countries have banned its use. Glyphosate can cause acute toxicity and cronic toxicity, with strong links to cancer. There are environmentally friendly options today which could replace the use of this chemical such as steam spraying to name one. Let's take a stand Freo and say NO to the use of toxic chemicals in our back yard for our community's, family's and children we all deserve toxic free environments. Please sign and spread the work, the more people who sign, the more chance we have to ban Glyphosate.

I was just out walking by the park and saw yet another warning sign that made me realize how urgent this really is because honestly we just have better ways to manage our weeds than relying on toxic chemicals. Someone sent me a message about how steam weeding actually works in practice and it got me thinking about how we can start showing the council exactly what those alternatives look like instead of just talking about the problem.

I honestly never thought this would gain this much steam when I typed it out on my laptop one night but here we are and the momentum is actually wild. I have been reading through all your notes about your own kids playing in these parks and it just totally reinforces why I started this because we really need to get those toxic chemicals out of our soil already.

Please stop using Glysophate. I’ve recently had Leukaemia. Glysophate is linked to causing blood cancers. I want to know I can walk in a park or along a verge safely without the risk of being exposed to anything that can risk a relapse.

After the recent US court case finding that glyphosate is a carconogen, the Fremantle Council would be leaving itself open to being sued if it continued to use this chemical. I am surprised that a supposedly progressive council such as Freo has not changed over to using steam for weed control purposes long ago

Glysophate is killing us, our pets who walk barefoot on the grass and the earth. We kill our weeds with boiling water and you can too very cheaply. It is easy cheap and 100% effective. No excuse to use toxic chemicals ever again.

I am. Hair of SHAC (Sustainable Housing for Artists and Creatives) we are all appalled that a development that is supposed to be adhering to principles of One Planet Living etc should be sprayed with poisons.

Spraying of this toxic compound affects wildlife like Bobtail crawling on the floor, insects in the soil and birds eating insects from the soil as well as dogs running in the soils, trees who's roots are in the soil, humans who sit on grass, all the water birds as it leaks from soil into water and back into human for chain.

This needs to be stopped now, I live next to a park, it horrifies me every time I see them spraying, and then watch the young children and babies laying and playing on the grass on the same day.
