This petition calls for the BBC (British Broadcasting Company) to be banned from the grounds of the DW Stadium in Wigan for an indefinite period or until they issue a personal apology for insulting Wigan Athletic owner David Whelan.

David Whelan recently made a number of comments about Jewish and Chinese people, which he has apologised for and this seems to have not soured relations with Jewish and Chinese people, yet the BBC feels that it has a duty to punish David Whelan and to use 'political correctness' to force him out of the club which he has built up through sheer hard work and effort over 40 years.

The BBC is acting in a bullying manner, and is trying to be judge, jury and executioner. The BBC is not a moral guardian, it is a broadcaster which is funded by the taxpayer.

I simply do not understand why the BBC thinks it is allowed to do hatchet jobs on good people, conveniently ignoring the fact that the organisation was recently under the spotlight with regards to the activities of Sir Jimmy Saville and other celebrities who have been prosecuted for sexual offences against children. Does the BBC really think that a racial slip of the tongue is worse than prolonged sexual abuse against children?

The club does not need the BBC nor its apparatchiks such as Mark Lawrenson and Rio Ferdinand, so I urge all football fans to back this campaign to ban the BBC from the DW Stadium. YOUR club might be next on their hatchet-job risk - one slip of the tongue is all it will take for the pious judges of the Football Focus and Match Of The Day team to shout 'for shame!' at your club and drag its reputation through the mud!

Many Thanks
