The local legislature officially ratified the measure to prohibit the sale of these synthetic substances. Your contributions were instrumental in securing this protection for our community. We will observe the implementation of this policy to ensure full compliance from local retailers.
My office, New Day Counseling is launching a petition to ban the sale and use of synthetic drugs that Mimic an Illicit Drug. Public health officials, local law enforcement, and community members are concerned about the recent surge in the use of such substances. The petition will require 1,000 signatures from Odessa in support of banning these dangerous products. These drugs, with names like K2, Spice and Angry Birds, can be obtained locally and on the internet. They are sold as incense orpotpourri, but are smoked to produce a high. There is a law against it but due to the chemical makeup, retailers are able to sell it legally. The media, poison control and medical community report that users of these products can have strong psychotic episodes, including extreme paranoia, hallucinations, hypertension, suicidal thoughts and heart attacks. These drugs can have long-term damaging effects, and some have died from using these products. I hope you join me in the fight to ban synthetic drugs from our community by signing your name to this petition.
The petition has reached the goal of 1,000 signatures from residents of Odessa. This milestone provides a strong mandate to present our case to local officials for immediate action. I look forward to coordinating the next steps in our efforts to remove these dangerous substances from the market.

My son was addicted to these synthetic smoke and only because he could buy it locally he assumed it was legal. He had 2 seizures, that I witnessed and got him jail time for threatening the police. I may add he is mentally ill as well we need to band these drugs and places who sell them.
