When a New York State Detective comes to your home asking if you "have seen this person pictured, at the house next door" - it is time to be concerned. We moved to Highland Lakes to enjoy serenity, not have our lives interrupted on almost a daily basis by transients, they do not rent for a week, or even two nights. Daily. This is nothing more than motels, unregulated.

I am strongly in favor of trying to regulate this section of the market. The renters are unaware of rules that make the community the enjoyable place it is.

Short term rentals (one to a few nights) are increasingly becoming a problem at Highland Lakes. We need to insure the quality of the lakes and our community are preserved and protected.

We are a community of individuals who love and protect our beautiful lakes, wildlife, trees and ecosystem that has given us all so much enjoyment. We want to make sure that everyone at HL is motivated to do the same.

The quality of our lives in Highland Lakes strongly depends on the passage of this amendment to the By-Laws.
